5V English Language Arts

Please know that in a remote setting some what 5V has historically accomplished may look different.

1. 5V and 5th grade students will read more complex/rigorous texts.
2. 5V and 5th grade students will analyze and interact with those texts via annotation, highlighting, answering questions, and direct coaching from the teacher on how to think and read certain texts.
3. 5V and 5th grade students will write a variety of modes: narrative story telling, opinion-argument, research paper, short evidence based answer response, blogs, and a few more.
4. 5V and 5th grade students will learn basic yet essential rules for grammar that should be applied to their writing.
5. 5V and 5th grade students will study lots of words in and out of context often with Greek or Latin prefixes and suffixes.
6. 5V and 5th grade students will hold discussions and debates over the content of our reading.
7. 5V and 5th grade students will refer to a variety of higher level topics in science, current events, global issues, and complex themes in in text, video, or audio in.
