My name is Katie Dahlquist and I am your LMC director. I want to begin by telling you a little bit about myself. I was born and have lived in Naperville all of my life. There are 6 people in my family: my mom, my dad, my brother, his wife, my nephew George and me. Growing up I had two loves, reading and working with kids. Now I have the opportunity to do both!
I went to elementary, middle, and high school in nearby District 203. I graduated from Elmhurst College in 2004 with a degree in Elementary Education. I got my Master’s Degree in 2010. I taught at Georgetown Elementary school in District 204 for 14 years. This is my first year in the library at McCarty.
I enjoy vacationing, going to the beach, walking, listening to podcasts and reading, especially mysteries. One of my favorite mystery series to read while growing up was Nancy Drew and I still have many of her books. Just ask me about them and I will be happy to share! When you see me in the library, please stop by to say hello!
Hello! My name is Jessica Knepper and I am the new LMC assistant for McCarty and Gombert. I live in Naperville with my husband Dave, our two kids Caroline and Owen, and our adorable corgi Luna. We've been in Naperville for 8 years now, and it's the longest we've ever lived in one place since we've been married. Caroline will be a freshman at Neuqua this year, and Owen is going to be in 5th grade at Patterson. I am an avid crafter and reader. Knitting is my favorite pastime, followed closely by reading mystery novels.
I have been a stay at home mom for nearly 15 years now. Prior to that I received degrees in biology and genetics and spent time working in a research lab at the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia. My career change was prompted by my time volunteering in the Patterson LMC. I have volunteered there since my son started kindergarten, and I fell in love with the elementary LMC environment. I'm looking forward to meeting and working with all of you.
