Major Units of Study (order subject to change):

Safety & Introduction

How is Earth changing?

How does water shape our world?

What makes weather change?

Grades: Grades will be determined by a variety of criteria including, but not excluded to the following:

    • Assessments (tests and quizzes)
    • Classwork and labs
    • Homework
    • Life skills (participation, behavior, and preparation)

Student Work: A student’s work must meet the quality of work guidelines as outlined by the teacher

    • Proper heading (first and last name, name of assignment, date of assignment, period)
    • Neat and legible handwriting (students may type any assignment - on their own time)
    • Turned in on time and at the appropriate time
    • Academic honesty obeyed

***Any work not following these guidelines is subject to penalty.

Late Assignments: All work is expected to be turned in on the assigned due date at the appropriate time. Any late assignment will be penalized fifty-percent off of the original grade. Students have three days to complete late assignments before all credit is lost. If the late assignment is a project, it will be penalized ten-percent off the original grade per day the project is late (up to 50%).

** If for any reason your printer is not working prior to an assignment being due, you may come in before school or at lunch for access to a computer, or feel free to e-mail me the assignment and I will print it for you. Broken equipment is not an acceptable excuse for late work.

Absent Work: All absent work and missed handouts will be available upon the student’s return, as well as posted in the Google Classroom. Students will receive one workday for each day missed to make up the assignment. It is the student’s responsibility to check on work missed during their absence.

Extra Credit

Extra credit will only be assigned on a whole class basis as an appropriate assignment becomes available and is not a substitute for prior poor performance. Extra credit will only be accepted if ALL required work is turned in first.

Discipline Overview:

Students are expected to follow all classroom guidelines and expectations regardless of circumstance. If not, the following disciplinary steps will be taken.

    1. Verbal Warning
    2. Parent contact via e-mail or phone call
    3. Detention and/or consequence from administration

***The teacher reserves the right to bypass any of these steps, and implement alternative disciplinary actions, depending on the severity of the situation.
