Oonmona Das, College Excellence Award

Oonmona is reading in B.A. History Honours Semester VI and is a very active member of the department. She has multi facetted interests and has groomed herself into a passionate debater, dancer, organiser of events, and a budding ambassador of peace. The College has recognised Oonmona's talent and given her the College Excellance Award for 2020.

Oonmona was elected the General Secretary of English Debating Society of the Indraprastha College for Women. She is also devoted to a typical dance form called Sattriya and has participated in several workshops and performances in the recent past. She has been recognised as an active promoter of this traditional dance form.

She is an active participant in the India Division of the Peacebuilding Project that was initiated at the University of Chicago in 2018, and has represented the India Division in presenting the problems of floods and land rights in Assam in February 2020.

Further, as member of the Global Youth Forum, Oonmona was selected as member of the India Singapore Youth Forum wherein she conducted 'A Chat with the Diplomat' at the Singapore High Commission at New Delhi in February 2020.

We appreciate her organisational abilities that were recently utilised in organising a three-days International Students' Workshop on Sufism in collaboration with the University of Gottingen. We wish her the very best with her future academic and artistic endeavours.

Srija Samanta, Best All-Round Student of the Department

Srija Samanta of B.A. (H) History Part III has a consistently good academic performance with the CGPA of 7.24 (Semesters I-V). She has presented Four papers in the Department’s Student paper presentation in 2019 and 2020. Her research paper was also published in the History Department's Journal Nazariyaat, volume III.

She has participated in a writing workshop conducted jointly by the Department of History and the Centre for Writing and Communication, conducted by the Ashoka University. She has been awarded the Urmila and Manmohan Lal Shrimali Memorial Prize instituted by Mrs. Manjula V. Shah for the Best All Round Student of the Department of History.

Srija has been a very active member of the department. She was elected the President of the History Society for 2020-2021, and elected the General Secretary of the Society for 2019-2020. For her contribution Srija was recognised as the Best All-Round Student of the Department in 2021.

Dipanwita Das

Dipanwita Das is reading in B.A. History Honours, Semester II and is a regular member of the College fine arts society 'Croydon'. She has represented the College in several painting competitions and has achieved many positions. This collage showcases four prize winning pictures painted by Dipanwita. She was awarded the following positions:

First Position:

i. Monostrokes, a monochrome painting competition organised by 'Kalakriti' at Delhi Technological University, 6 February 2020

ii. Painting & Story Writing Competition at the Ramjas College, 20 January 2020

iii. Storyboard Competition at the Ramjas College, 15 October 2019

Second Position, Group participation:

Brush-a thon Competition at the Sri Guru Gobind Singh College of Commerce, 8.11.2019.

Aashi Giri

Aashi Giri is reading in B.A. History Honours, Semester IV and represents the I.P. College Chapter at the Global Youth, which is an apolitical, not-for-profit organisation looking to empower youth ambassadors for a global generation. Aashi has been working with this organisation since 2018. During 2019-2020 was selected as Head of Content Team, Global Youth, IPCW Chapter. She was the Deputy-Chairperson, India-Singapore Youth Forum. Further, she was an A-Level Adjudicator in February 2020, qualifying for quarter-finals at tournaments held at the Hansraj College & Kirori Mal College in February, 2020. Aashi participated in a workshop on Water Crisis organised by Global Youth on 31 August 2019 at Chennai. She was the Sustainable Development Goals Council delegate to India-Argentina Youth Forum during 2019.

Recently, Aashi was selected as the second best adjudicator at The Feminism Open 2020 was a fund raising British Parliamentary debating tournament organised online at the Mixidea platform from Japan. It was held from 15-16 August 2020.

Ria Khetarpal

Ria is a final semester student pursuing an Honours Course in History. She has been very active in the College's extra-curricular life. Ria was elected as General Secretary of Oghma, English Editorial Society (2019-20). She is one of the editors of the College magazine Aaroh and the College e-newsletter. Ria is one of the founder members and editor in chief of the online magazine of the History Department called Reminiscence.

Ria has interned at The Heritage Lab, which is a digital platform connecting museums and citizens, through campaigns, public engagement programs and free access content for the youth, families and kids.

We are proud to share that Ria Khetarpal has been selected for the role of News Curator at Newzera Tech Labs Pvt. Ltd. in January this year. It is a fantastic achievement for our budding news writer and we wish her good luck!

Prizes and Scholarships awarded on the basis of University Examination

Srijani Deb of M.A. Final was awarded the Lala Jugal Kishore Jagdish Prasad Memorial Prize instituted by Late Shri Narain Prasad for standing first in M.A. (Final).

Manshi Gupta & Shivangi Prasad of M.A. Previous were awarded Lala Jugal Kishore Jagdish Prasad Memorial Prize instituted by Late Shri Narain Prasad for standing first in M.A. (Previous).

Bharti Rana was awarded the K. N. Kukreja Memorial Prize instituted by Mrs. Neera Kukreja Sohoni for securing the highest CGPA in History Honours Part III.

Aastha Manocha was awarded the Smt. Bhagwati Devi Memorial Prize instituted by Mrs. Prem Mukhi Saxena for securing the highest CGPA in B.A. History Honours Part II.

Deepti Mishra was awarded the Anand Narain and Pushpa Bhargava Memorial Prize instituted by Dr. Meena Bhargava, for securing the highest CGPA in Semester II.

Stuti Priya Lahkar, Rituparna Goswami, Astha Borgohain Atlanta Choudhury were awarded the Shri Barkat Ram Mahajan Memorial Prize instituted by Mrs. Sneh Mahajan for Consistently Good Academic Performance in B.A. (H) History Part I and Part II combined.

Kanak Gangwarand S. Kuimi of History (H) Part III were warded the Vandana Bhutani Mehta Scholarship instituted by Mrs. Champa Bhutani for the Most Deserving Student of B.A. (H) History Part I or Part II.

Sara Jain & Shreyashi Dutta were awarded the Smt. Bhagwanti Kapoor Memorial Scholarship instituted by Mrs. Maya Kapoor for the Highest CGPA in B.A. (H) History Part I and Part II combined.

Poonam Goswami of M.A Final History was awarded the Smt. Kamla Rani Ram Kishore Memorial Scholarship instituted by Shri Brijbans Kishore for the Most Deserving Student.

Mamta of B.A. (H) History Part III was awarded the Smt. Gopali Devi Scholarship instituted by Shri Brijbans Kishore for getting Highest CGPA in Semester I-IV combined in B.A (H) History.

Prizes for Co-Curricular Activities
