The B.A. Honours Programme in History equips a student with an understanding of historical phenomena and processes. It imparts analytical skills and encourages a historically informed imagination. The Programme encourages students to develop a spirit of enquiry, critical thinking and a sensitive outlook towards contemporary social and political issues.

Reading History at the Indraprastha College for Women provides a strong foundation for careers in academia and also fields such as Journalism, Publishing, Educational administration, International Relations, Management of Museum/Archive, Conservation and Heritage, Law, Government Service and Media.

Our alumni have gone on to pursue distinguished careers in all of these areas (and others) because education in history helps students hone skills that are valuable in every profession: the ability to analyze conflicting information and viewpoints, write clearly and communicate complex ideas, find reliable evidence for judgments about human actions and motives, and place particular events in a wider context or historical pattern.
