Inter-College Paper Presentations & Other Events

Sonali Kumari of B.A. History Honours, Semester III & Devanshi Srivastava of Sociology Honours, Semester II were awarded the First Prize in the Rangeen Syahi, a competition organized by Croydon and Poetry Club of IPCW on 28th September, 2018. This prize winning painting was displayed in the Gandhi Jayanti celebrations on 1st October, 2018.

Shruti Jain of B.A. History Honours, Semester V won the Second Prize for her Paper, "When the Badshah celebrated the Jashn-i chiraghan: Observations from the Court of Jahangir" at the Inter-College Paper Presentation Competition themed Mughal Court Culture at the Daulat Ram College, University of Delhi on 12 October 2018.

The National Cadet Corps

CADET Vidhyotma Kumari of B.A. History Honours, Semester III has qualified for Certificate B of the National Cadet Corps' with 'A' grade. Vidhyotma has participated in the ‘ALL INDIA NCC GIRLS TREKKING EXPEDITION-2018 (HIMTREK)’ of National Cadet Corps at BAIJNATH from 02nd June 2018 to 11th June 2018 organized by PHHP & C DTE-CHANDIGARH. She has been awarded positions for participation in Inter-College NCC events.Vidhyotma also participated in the pre-Republic Day Parade in 2018. She has exceptional sporting talent and won Second Position in the 4*25 mts Freestyle Relay organized by the College in September 2018.

CADET Pooja of B.A. History Honours, Semester III has qualified for Certificate B of the National Cadet Corps' with 'A' grade. Pooja has participated in several NCC camps and represented the College at various events. She secured the 'First' position for Quarter Guard (SW) & 'Second' position in Squad Drill in NISCHAY'18, the Annual NCC Fest at Miranda House in 2018. She has represented the College in the NCC Annual Fest VEERASTRA'17. In October 2017, Pooja represented the NCC Directorate Delhi in the Rhythmic Mass Pt Display Aerobics NCC National Games. Pooja aspires to serve the Nation as an Officer in Uniform. We salute her spirit!

Sports

Semzes Dolma is reading in Semester III, History Honours. She has displayed extraordinary sporting talent in the field of Ice Hockey and has represented India internationally. This is what she says about her sporting passion…

'I come from Ladakh, which is a very cold region. Playing on ice and with snow was common to us in childhood. In 2016, at the age of 17, I got a chance to participate in the National Team of India for the Women’s Challenge Cup of Asia in the city of Taipei in China. This competition is organised by the International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF). I represented India for the same event at Kuala Lampur in Malaysia earlier this year. Recently, I have returned from Beijing after participating in the Chinese Ice Hockey Junior Draft Camp and IIHF Asian Women's Summer Camp Player Development Program Learn to Play. I am really thankful to the IIHF, LWIHF (Ladakh Women Ice Hockey Foundation), and my parents who are my biggest supporters in helping me to realize all these achievement

College Awards & Prizes 2018

All-Round Excellence Award

Vidhyotama Kumari, a Final Year student of History has a good academic record along with paper presentations in student seminars to her credit. She is also a committed NCC cadet. Winner of a number of trophies, medals and cash prizes in various NCC events including the All India NCC Girls Trekking Expedition, Himtrek-2018 and the Quarter Guard and Squad Drill Competitions. She is the recipient of Award of Honour Trophy in the College Annual NCC Festival ‘Veerastra’ 2018. She has also proved her merit in swimming and aerobics events.

She is warded the Smt. Mohini Virendra Singh Award for All-Round Excellence instituted by Mrs. Mira Pradeep Singh.

Principal's Honour Roll

Shruti Jain, B.A. History (H) Part III for the prize winning model on presented by the College team “Greenhorns” at , IIT Delhi.Also awarded for her achievement in creative writing and for her leadership role in the Society, Music Archives and Listening Room (MALR) of the College.

Sunayna Dutta, B.A. (Hons.) History, Part III For her work as co-editor of the book , published SLAC Assam, Government of Assam and Arunodoi Publication, and her work with languages for the student journal, CODE.

All-Round Best Achiever of the Department

Sunayana Dutta, Vidhyotma Kumari and Shruti Jain were awarded the Urmila and Manmohan Lal Shrimali Memorial Prize for all-round best student of the Department.

Arushi Mathur, was awarded the Lala Jugal Kishore Jagdish Prasad Memorial Prize instituted by Shri Narain Prasad for securing the highest marks/CGPA in M.A. (Final).

Rituparna Dutta, was awarded the Lala Jugal Kishore Jagdish Prasad Memorial Prize instituted by Shri Narain Prasad for securing the highest marks/CGPA in M.A. (Previous).

Srijani Deb, was awarded the K. N. Kukreja Memorial Prize instituted by Mrs. Neera Kukreja Sohoni for securing the highest marks/CGPA in History (H) Part III.

Manshi Gupta, was awarded the Smt. Bhagwati Devi Memorial Prize instituted by Mrs. Prem Mukhi Saxena for securing the highest marks/CGPA in B.A. History (H) Part II.

Raiana Arambam, was awarded the Anand Narain and Pushpa Bhargava Memorial Prize instituted by Dr. Meena Bhargava for securing the highest CGPA in History Part I.

Ananya Joshi & Fatima Rahman, of B.A. History (H) Part III were awarded the Shri Barkat Ram Mahajan Memorial Prize instituted by Dr. Sneh Mahajan for Consistently Good Academic Performance in B. A. (H) History Part I and Part II combined.

Vidhyotma Kumari & Pooja, of B.A. History (H) Part III were awarded the Vandana Bhutani Mehta Scholarship instituted by Mrs. Champa Bhutani for the Most Deserving Student of B.A. (H) History Part I or Part II.

Manshi Gupta, of B.A. History (H) Part III was awarded the Smt. Bhagwanti Kapoor Memorial Scholarship instituted by Mrs. Maya Kapoor for the Highest CGPA in B.A. (H) History Part I and Part II combined.

Pooja, of B.A. History (H) Part III was awarded the Smt. Gopali Devi Scholarship instituted by Shri Brijbans Kishore for getting Highest CGPA in Semester I-IV combined.

Vidhyotma Kumari, of B.A. History (H) Part III was awarded the S.L. Sethi Memorial Merit-Cum-Means Scholarship instituted by Shri Suresh Sethi.
