Students Paper Presentation Back to Activities
Students of Semesters III & V presented papers on the theme Historicising Dialogues & Contestations: Experiences from Past & Present on Tuesday, 11 October 2022. Thirteen papers were presented in three sessions. Each session was followed by question-and-answer session moderated by a Chairperson. The presentations were held in the IPCW Conference Room.
Students of semesters IV & VI presented papers on the theme Readings in History on Tuesday, 12 April 2022. Six papers were presented on subjects like Mughal illustrated manuscripts, courtly and saintly personalities, perception of courtesans, caste, patriarchy, and ritual observance in religious society. The presentations were organised online at the IPCW Google Meet Platform.
Students of semesters I & III presented papers on the theme of Migration, Movement, & Mobility on Thursday, 23 September 2021. Six papers were presented on themes like indentureship in the Indo-Caribbean region, experience of the Tibetan community in Kashmir, groups affected by the Partition of 1947, and Chinese settlers in parts of India, as well as xenophobic trends in the Americas. The presentations were made online at the IPCW Google Meet Platform.
Concept Note & Programme Schedule
A Students Paper Presentation was organized online by the Department of History on the theme Readings in History on 19 February 2021. After selection, six entries qualified and were further mentoring by the faculty. These papers explored a host of themes such as Football and Fascism, Patriarchy in the Mahabharata, Prehistoric and Modern Art, Ideas of the German Nation, Sculptural Art and the Malabar Rebellion.
A Students' Seminar was organized on the theme Readings in History on 8 October 2020. The event received an enthusiastic response from the students. After a rigorous selection process, four papers were selected that touched themes like gender, artwork, folklore, and oral tradition. The event was organised online at the IPCW Google Meet platform.
An Inter-college student seminar was organized on the theme Sufism in South Asia: Texts, Legends & Popular Traditions on 5 March 2020. The call for papers received an overwhelming response from other colleges and universities. Twelve papers were presented and the three best presenters were awarded cash prizes. A student seminar was organized on the theme Writing on the Wall: Inscriptions in History on 13 September 2019. Twelve students presented six papers that focused on interesting sub-themes such as memorialization, religious invocations an d political ambitions expressed through inscriptions. A student seminar was organized on the theme of Pathways to History: Reading Texts and Images on 28 March 2019. Nine students presented papers on themes from Indian and world history using literary and visual texts. While some papers were focussed on women's history, festivities & rituals of kingship, influence of Greco-Roman art on Indian art, and perceptions about popular performative arts.
Students of Semester I, III & V presented papers on the theme Pathways to History: Reading Texts and Images on 10 October 2018. The students worked on various themes of visual history, literary texts and explored critical questions of Indian history. There were papers which did not limit to Indian history but broadened it to European history as well. Students addressed diverse themes like the Revolt of 1857 and the literary figure like Bhikhari Thakur.
Schedule for Paper Presentation
Students of Semester II, IV & VI presented seven papers were presented by the students of Indraprastha College on the theme Sources in Archaeological, Oral and Linguistic Traditions on 13 March 2018. The main focus of the presentations was on reading primary sources, analysing these in the light of the modern historiographical interventions.
Students of Semester I, III, & V presented papers on the theme Tribes, Forest-Dwellers and Marginal Groups: Contests and Negotiations on 10 October 2017. Six students from the department presented papers on this theme.
Students of Semester I, III & V presented ten papers on the theme History in Texts: Oral, Vernacular, and Performative on 21 October 2016. The papers were organised into four sessions. Each session had a faculty member as Chair and Discussant. At the end of every session the presentations were thoroughly discussed and commented upon.
An inter-college paper presentation competition was organised in the College on the theme Reading Auto/Biography as History on 30 March 2016. Eight students from various colleges including Indraprastha College for Women, Ramjas College, Lady Sri Ram College and Miranda House College presented papers.
Students of Semester I, III and V presented papers on the theme of auto/biographical genres on 8 October 2015. The presentations focused on hagiographies, and other kinds of biographies, including autobiographies, about women and men who have left a mark of history. These presentations were largely based on reading of some original sources.
