Film Screening

The History Society organised two screenings during January to August 2023. The first film screening was on the theme of slavery which is taught to history students reading History of U.S.A. On 28 January 2023 the movie Twelve Years a Slave was screened at 12:00 PM, in Seminar Hall. Around one hundred students participated in the movie screening across the disciplines including the history department faculties.

The History Society of Indraprastha College for Women in collaboration with the Partition Museum and its partner Project Daastan organized a Film Screening on Lost Migrations on Wednesday, 18 January 2023 at 12:30 pm in Conference Hall. The event was also a collaboration between the Department of MMMC and English. The film screening was organized at the request of our alumna, Miss Alishah Ali who works with the Partition Museum. The event was attended by 173 students and faculty members. The screening was followed by a panel discussion and interactive session with the audience.

The History Society organised the screening of a film on the topic of the French Revolution which is studied by the history students who read European and World History on 10 September 2022 at 11:30 AM, in the Seminar Hall. The viewing was followed by an interactive session. The History Society organised two movie screenings on significant historical themes. The first film Twelve Years a Slave was screened on 30 August 2019. The second film Witchfinder General was screened on 2 November 2019. This movie screening was followed by a talk delivered by Ms. Akhila Matthew who is pursuing her PhD in medieval practices of witchcraft in Rajasthan.

Film & History - A Festival of Films was screened during 6 to 9 February 2017. The festival was inaugurated with a talk "Films & History" by Mr. Sanjay Muttoo of the Department of BMMMC, I.P. College. Three films were screened during the festival. Every screening was preceded by a special talk by subject specialists who introduced the historical context of the film, and the screening was followed by a discussion.    Click for schedule 

Rahul Roy's Sundarnagri the City Beautiful was screened on 21 February 2014. The screening was followed by discussion with the film maker.

Steven Spielberg’s film Lincoln was screened on 10 April 2013. The film’s focus on debates around the abolition of slavery made it especially interesting for students engaging with that period.

Rahul Roy’s Majma was screened in the concluding session of the seminar on Gendered Pasts, Masculinist Frames on 9 February 2011.

Anek Ramayan, a documentary by Shikha Sen was screened in December 2010.
