Avantika Sharma is an Assistant Professor (ad hoc) in the department of history. She specializes in history of early India. She obtained her M.A PhD from the University of Delhi. In 2011, she was appointed as a University Teaching Assistant in the Department of History at the University of Delhi.
The title of her thesis is 'Transition to the Early Historic Phase in South India'. Her research involves a study of three archaeological cultures in southern India - Neolithic, Iron Age and Early Historic. It attempts to delineate various developments like evolution of society, economy, settlement patterns and other cultural aspects as reflected in the archaeological sources. She plans to undertake a study of north Indian archaeological cultures.
