IPSI database, "Italian Present-day Stress Indicators", is a georeferenced repository of information on the crustal present-day stress field maintained at INGV. It consists of horizontal stress orientations analysed and compiled in a standardized format and quality-ranked for reliability and comparability on a global scale. Nowadays the database contains 969 data records updated to December 2023. The next update is scheduled to be released within the first months of 2025.
IPSI collects information of the Italian contemporary stress orientations within the upper 40 km of the Earth's crust, from different stress indicators grouped in the following main categories:
. Borehole breakouts
. Earthquake focal mechanisms
. Active fault-slip data
Italian data are part of the World Stress Map
