What you need to tryout:
Current Physical on file with the IMS AD before Clinics begin in the Spring of the school year.
Be passing 5 Major classes the grading period prior to tryouts & prior to your season.
A good attitude, school spirit, leadership qualities, and basic dance and cheer skills.
Dates: TBD (Spring of 2024)
Requirements:
A cheer and chant: personality, sharpness, timing, coordination, and voice. (40 points per judge per event)
Jumps: Right and Left Herkie, Toe Touch (30 points per judge)
Gymnastics: skill of choice (difficulty, execution) (15 points per judge)
Dance: personality, dance ability (15 points per judge)
Forms: Current Physical on File and Permission Slip
TOTAL Points per judge = 140 points
Squads available:
7th/8th Grade Football
composed of 8 – 7th graders and 8 – 8th graders for a total of 16 girls
7th Grade Basketball 8th Grade Basketball
composed of 8 – 7th graders composed of 8 – 8th graders
**At this time, it is required that cheerleaders participate in both fall and winter seasons, starting in August and ending in January.
Schedule:
We will cheer HOME games only!
Football: Practices and games are usually Monday and Wednesday.
Basketball: Games are usually Tues/Thurs with Practices on Monday/Wednesday. All 7th and 8th grade basketball games will be played as double headers, which means that the first game will start at 4:15pm with the second game beginning about 5:30pm. 7th & 8th grade teams rotate days on who plays first.
Note: We will abide by the ILS athletic policies with a declared sport and work with the other coaches to ensure fidelity within all athletics, practices, and games.
Tentative Summer Schedule:
Camp: Information of dates will be given as soon as dates with the high school cheerleaders are set. These dates will be in August.
August practices are very important to the squad and the learning of material! Please make summer plans accordingly! Beginning the first full week in August we will have MANDATORY summer practices for ALL squads!
