6th Graders Are Challenged At Camp EWALU!
On a beautiful late September/early October day, the sounds of 6th graders encouraging and cheering for each other and laughing together can be heard on the grounds at Camp EWALU as they work through several activities that are part of the low and high Ropes Challenge Course. The activities include: Mountain, Helium, Spider Web, Dots, Marbles, Blindfold, River Walk, Toxic Waste and Zip Line!
The focus of this adventure is on team building, creative problem solving, interdependence, communication, respect, and of course, trust. Each activity encourages listening and leadership skills as they draw upon the strengths of each of the members in their group. By the end of the day the individual students develop into a TEAM of students providing support and encouragement of each other. The benefits of Camp EWALU carry on throughout the school year!
Camp EWALU's ropes courses are a tremendous opportunity for our students and are an integral a part of our Character Counts program. By the end of the day, the students have gained greater appreciation of each other and the values of Character Counts (trust, respect, responsibility, fairness, caring, and citizenship). It is a real "memory maker"! As one student said, "this was the best school day ever, I don't know what would make it better!"
