I currently have six main courses in Canvas: My art classes are fully integrated into Canvas. Canvas provides classroom expectations, specific assignments, and additional educational materials. Canvas is central to our learning environment and students will be using Canvas everyday.
7th Grade Art- This exploratory 7th grade course introduces students to the building blocks of art: the elements of art and principles of design. Inspired by art that spans cultures and time, students will utilize a variety of materials to create art that celebrates multiple perspectives whileproviding relevance to their daily life.
8th Grade Art-This exploratory 8th grade course continues to introduce students to the building blocks of art: the elements of art and principles of design. Inspired by art that spans cultures and time, students will utilize a variety of materials to create art that celebrates multiple perspectives while providing relevance to their daily life.
Introduction to Art- This course will examine the major stylistic and time periods,
movements, and trends in the visual arts of Western civilization from Pre-history through the
Renaissance.
Drawing and Painting- The goal in this course is to develop creative problem solving and innovative thinking skills and also to increase technical skills and aesthetic awareness. In addition, students will also experience new media and enhance skills other media.
Ancient Craft- The exciting new class of Ancient craft spotlights the arts of long ago. With today's digital technology we can appreciate the old techniques that got the art world started. We explore several mediums such as Woodcut printing, Batik, Leather craft, Chain Maille and Bookbinding.
Graphic Design-Students create advertising designs and utilize graphic design, typography, and illustration. Additionally students reflect upon the outcome of these experiences, make presentations about their progress at regular intervals through critique, individually and in groups and explore career options related to visual communication.
