What is considered proper attire to wear to the mosque?

Answer

For women, clothing should not be too form-fitting and should include long sleeves and long pants or a long skirt/dress. Women of other faiths are not required to cover their heads, but they are welcome to if they choose.

Men can choose to wear long sleeve or short sleeve shirts. Shorts are acceptable, but should be long enough to cover the knees.

Shoes will need to be removed before entering the prayer areas. There are cubby holes available for shoe placement near the mosque entrances.

Question

What is halal food and is it sold at the mosque?

Answer

Halal (the Arabic term for permitted or lawful) food includes food items that are allowed under Islamic dietary guidelines. Muslims are most notably not allowed to eat pork or pork byproducts and alcohol, among other things. Halal meat comes from animals that have been slaughtered in a humane manner. For more information on halal foods, visit the Islamic Food and Nutrition Council of America website at http://www.ifanca.org/index.php.

Halal food items are not sold at the mosque. Our local Sam's Club stores carry halal lamb.
