Many a student has asked me if I have any contacts to get a job in the UK or elsewhere, and unfortunately I don't.
I have also heard tales of students bravely travelling to the UK or Ireland to search for a job and finding nothing, probably due to the fact that they honestly say they're only staying for a short time.
The only organisation that I have only heard positive feedback about is WOOF http://www.wwoof.org/
Check it out: you can organise the stay in advance, will not have to work too many hours a day, will do a good deed for the environment, and, depending on which country you end up in, could come away with better English and other languages.
Some of my students have also applied to be a camp counsellor in the US http://www.campleaders.com/us/ No feedback yet though.
For longer periods there is the VIE...
