My name is Marie Butler and I have been here in The Bay Area for 10 years now. I am originally from the Southern California but I did my undergraduate studies at Humboldt State (now Cal Poly Humboldt), where I received my BA in Art Education and Studio Art- If you know your California geography that's way far north- I moved to the Bay Area in 2012 to attend San Francisco State University where I obtained my Single Subject Credential in Art education.
I love teaching high school art, and I care deeply about each of my students. One of my main goals as an educator is to teach students to be inquisitive, cognizant, and critical of the world around them through the process of creating and critiquing art and visual culture. I have been an educator in the Hayward Unified School district, happily working with the fine young artist of Mt. Eden High School since 2013 and I look forward to continuing my work with the Mt. Eden community.
