You and a friend walk through the woods one late afternoon to go to a market to buy socks (you were both low on socks, and there’s a good sale at the market across the forest on one-size-fits-all socks). You each get 10 pairs of socks (and 10 identical pairs at that--i.e. you each get one red pair and one green pair and one blue pair, etc.). It’s completely dark by the time you’re making your way back home through the woods, so dark in fact that you bump into each other and drop all of the socks on to the ground. The socks are still in pairs (so there are 20 pairs total lying on the ground), but you can’t see them well enough to tell what color they are. How can you make it so that by the time you get out of the forest each of you is holding two red socks, two green socks, two blue socks, etc.?
