The lesson plans below are also available in Google Doc. form for any students who might prefer that format.
Students should be sure to take a look at the Required Texts list for this class and make sure they have a plan to purchase the editions of the books they'll need (in plenty of time for the start of the study of each).
For each text we study, we’ll have a short quiz--during the opening week of the study of the work--based on vocabulary from the work. The vocabulary lists can be found here, and students should come to class on the day of our Words of the Work quiz (check class calendar) prepared to correctly apply any of the twenty words to sentences they’ve never seen before.
Students should check the class calendar for the pages we’ll be discussing as we read various works throughout the year. If an author and pages are listed on a day, students are expected to arrive to class that day having read (and comprehended) those pages and should expect a reading check quiz at the beginning of the period.
Students who are interested in see all of my literary points of interest from the 2024-2025 school year can check them out here.
Students are encouraged to take advantage of these broad essay reviews: 1) Angelou Essay Review, 2) Vonnegut Essay Review, 3) Lahiri Essay Review (from 2024-2025)
Students should check this document for their Class Discussion Leadership date and should come prepared on said date to follow all of the instructions outlined here.
