What types of homes did they live in?
The Wampanoag did not live in Tepees. The lived in villages of small round houses called wetus, or wigwams. Each Wampanoag village was built around a central open space the people used for councils or meetings.
Wetus were built by women using a variety of materials, such as wood, sod, bark and woven grasses. A wigwam was unusually 6 to 8 feet tall and between 10 and 16 feet wide. It was large enough to house one or more families. There was usually a opening in the center to allow smoke from a fire to escape. Animal skins were used to cover the wigwam to retain heat.
