I stand by my work so you don't have to worry.
I build my knives to be used. Because of this I use high quality materials and I treat them right. I use steels that combine both performance fit for the intended use of the knife as well as cost. I take pride in my heat treat process which is done in house. My handle materials are built to last and are treated to withstand wet environments. That being said custom knives still require some care to make them last forever. Here are some tips.
No knife should ever go in the dishwasher
The heat as well as bleach used in most dishwasher detergents is enough to destroy any knife no matter the quality of steel or workmanship
Do not cut on anything other than a cutting board
I have had many people tell me the edge of their knife wont hold up and then proceed to tell me they cut on a dinner plate. The ceramic of the plate is much harder than any steel and will destroy the edge in no time.
Wash by hand
Most often a knife just needs to be wiped off or given a quick rinse. I rarely use a detergent unless cutting something particularly sticky. Always dry immediately with a towel after rinsing. Even stainless steels if allowed to stay wet can degrade.
If you have a problem with your knife I want to make it right. You can send your knife to me at any time and I will assess the damage, what may have caused it, and let you know what we can do about it. If I believe it was something I did wrong, I'll fix it at no cost.
I offer free sharpening on all my knives. These knives will come to you "stupid" sharp. This does require some maintenance to keep them that way. That should not be your bourdon. Simply ship me the knife and cover return shipping. The rest is on me. I will inspect the knife and do any care I believe it needs and send it back in better condition.
