Good afternoon everyone!
I just wanted to reach out with a brief message as we wrap up the 5th week of our closure.
At this point, I think we have worked through many of the problems we first started off with including communications getting to the right email addresses. Once again, please email Ms. Player, mplayer@hinghamschools.org, to get the correct email address in Aspen(X2). On a similar note, there seems to be discrepancies with some people being able to see the CR or NCR entered into the gradebook and others are unable. HHS is aware and is working with Aspen to get it fixed. If there are any questions on entries in Aspen, please don’t hesitate to reach out to me.
I want to stress again how impressed I have been with submitted work. Please keep up the good work! Since tomorrow is Patriot’s Day, I will be posting Week 6 content by 8:00am on Tuesday.
I hope everyone can take advantage of the beautiful weather today. Stay safe and healthy!
Mid Week Check in
Good afternoon everyone,
I just wanted to reach out with my midweek check in. A couple points of interest…
I updated everyone’s portal from last week’s assignments. If you have a NCR for one or more of your assignments, it is because I could not find it in your folder. You still have the opportunity to change this to Credit by completing, submitting, and emailing me to update the specific assignment in your portal. I have to say, I was very impressed with the quality of work that was submitted. Please keep up the good work!
At this point, everyone should be working on their Week 5 assignments. All necessary content is posted to our site. Please let me know if you need clarification on any of the resources or tasks.
I hope this finds everyone doing well. Take care!

End of Week Update 4/11
Good Morning Everyone!
I just wanted to reach out with an end of week wrap up as we conclude our first official week of remote learning.
Email Address Contacts
There continues to be some concerns and issues with this. I received some clarification from the school that I would like to pass on. We are using the Aspen(X2) platform to send out emails to classes. Only those registered email addresses are receiving messages. If you and your child do not have an updated email address in the Aspen platform, you will not be receiving emails. Unless students have their Hingham High School email addresses updated in Aspen, messages are not being received. At the moment, the best fix for this is to contact Ms. Player at mplayer@hinghamschools.org. Additionally, I am posting my emails to each of my class websites.
Extension on work
I have had several students reach out requesting extension on work. Please remember, while you are being asked to complete assigned tasks by Friday, you have until Monday to submit. I realize how difficult this situation is and each family’s unique circumstances. I will not be grading this week’s work until next week. I just ask you to continue to communicate as many of you have been.
“Sharing” versus submitting to class folder
Please make sure you move all of your work to your class folder. Please don’t just “share” your work with me. It makes it a lot easier for me to find and helps eliminate any confusion of submitted work. If you have questions on what I mean by this, please reach out.
Week 5 Closure Resources and Activities
I will post next week’s resources and activities by 8:00am on Monday
Finally, for all those celebrating any of the various holidays this week, I hope you have been able to find a few minutes to unplug and spend quality time with family and loved ones.
Stay safe and healthy everyone and you will hear from me again soon!
Best regards,
Mr. T
Mid Week Update 4/8
Hi Everyone,
I hope this message finds you doing well. I wanted to check in and offer any assistance I can as we work through our first week of remote learning. Please do not hesitate to reach out with questions, even if you think they might be silly. Additionally, since there are religious holidays taking place, remember the District’s guidance that you can take until Monday to submit your work. Please feel free to exercise this option if necessary. I want to highlight a couple issues that have come up over the last few days.
Email Address Contacts
I use Aspen to send out these class emails. Students should be receiving these messages to their Hingham Gmail Account and all email addresses registered with the school in Aspen should be receiving these messages. If you need to update your personal email address with the school, please email Ms. Player:mplayer@hinghamschools.org. If you are a student and are having trouble with your Hingham issued Gmail account or you are not receiving my emails to your Hingham issued Gmail account, please reach out to Mr. Andrews: jandrews@hinghamschools.org
Making Copies of My Originals
I have received some questions on making copies of originals in order to edit. When you are trying to work with a Google Doc that I send as part of the week’s resources or activities, simply make a copy of the document so you can edit and make changes. To do this, make sure you are signed into your Hingham Google Account. Next, when you are in the document that you want to edit, please go to “File” and then “Make a Copy.” At this point, a dialogue box will appear and you can rename the document and move it to the appropriate folder.
Those have been the major questions at this point. If you need help with anything, please reach out and I hope everyone is having a great week!

Google Drive Set-up: Create a folder using your HINGHAM Google account and name it SEM (Your Last Name). Please "share" the folder with me and be sure that I have editing capabilities. As the semester goes on, we will be adding documents and sub folders. Add one document to the folder called "Journal."
Icebreaker: I will place you in groups of 4 to play a variety of sports/entertainment themed related games. First, learn how to play the game together by reviewing the rules and directions. As you play the games, get to know each other. At the end of your game, I want you to be able to introduce a fellow team member with 3 things you learned about other group members that you didn't know before. Additionally, what 21st Century business skills can we take away from this experience? Be prepared to share with the class.
