Digital Literacy
This course examines some of the current programs and applications that are used in the world of business. Students will apply Microsoft Office and Google productivity applications to projects and assignments they will face in everyday life. This class progressively builds on previously established computer applications and concepts. Students will also learn about software and Web 2.0 tools that can be used for their academic coursework and in the workplace. Additionally, students will practice 21st century skills by collaborating with others to problem solve and develop proper communication and presentation techniques. Students will be introduced to the concept of digital citizenship and the importance of maintaining their online “self.” Students will be required to participate in daily class work assignments to demonstrate their understanding and application proficiency. This course is especially geared for freshman and sophomores eager to learn about applying technology to academic, work, and personal life.

Week 15 May 13th-17th
Keyboarding Fundamentals- Stop at lesson 35. This will meet the requirement for the course. You will receive a completion grade.
Video Editor Project (finish by end of week 15)- Post a link to your blog. If you need help with this, please let me know.
- Projects are due no later than May 21st (senior last day of classes and week 16)
Week 14 May 6th-May 10th
Keyboarding Fundamentals- Stop at lesson 35. This will meet the requirement for the course. You will receive a completion grade.
Presentation Unit (finish by end of Week 13) and Video Editor Project (finish by end of week 15)
- Colleague presentations will take place on Wednesday, May 8th. You may choose your own partners for this. If you need help finding someone to work with, please communicate with me.
- Projects are due no later than May 21st (senior last day of classes and week 16 )
Week 14 Professional Attitude (Last one)
When you have finished all of the above requirements, you are finished with Digital Literacy and may use any remaining time as you see fit as long as it is school appropriate
Week 13 April 29th-May3rd
Keyboarding Fundamentals- Stop at lesson 35. This will meet the requirement for the course. You will receive a completion grade.

Expectations- You have Week 12 and 13 to complete the Presentation Unit and Video Editor Project. Budget your time appropriately.
You may work with a partner for both units
We will complete some of the collaborative Presentation Unit activities throughout the week
Week 11 April 8th-12th
Keyboarding Fundamentals- Stop at lesson 35. This will meet the requirement for the course. You will receive a completion grade.
- All Challenges and Spreadsheet 3 and 4 are due by the end of class tomorrow (Tuesday)
If you are finished with our Excel unit, you have the choice of progressing to either of the following units. We will be working on them simultaneously.

Microsoft Excel Unit- Make sure to finish the entirety of this unit before moving ahead

- By end of Week 9, Spreadsheet 1 and Spreadsheet 2 should be completed and submitted. Additionally, all Challenges should be completed and in your folder. I will be spot checking these.

Journal Entry- The Key to a Good-Paying Job Is…Microsoft Excel? If you are having trouble getting to the WSJ article, try this one. What do you think about this article? Does it emphasize my point that a course like Digital Literacy is still relevant and helpful? Are you proficient in spreadsheets? Do you think you are able to use it for productive tasks?

- Review together: On a biweekly (even numbered weeks) basis, you will have the opportunity to provide input on your work performance in class. After reflecting on the previous 2 weeks, you will complete a Google Form.The purpose of this exercise is to reflect on your performance in class and make changes as necessary. Failure to submit your rubric on time will result in your inability to provide your own input and you will not be able to fall into the "exemplary" category.
