Math: enVision Math2.0 – is a comprehensive mathematics curriculum with superior focus, coherence, and rigor. Ensure success at every level with problem-based learning, embedded visual learning, and personalization. Pearson Realize online is used in conjunction with the student books.

Reading: Reading Street: Students will study various genres of realistic fiction, poetry, fantasy, and informational text. Students will continue to work on reading skills including comprehension, summarizing, story elements, fluency and appreciation.  Pearson Realize online is used in conjunction with the student books.

Phonics: Sadlier Phonics - provides explicit instruction and practice for phonemic awareness, alphabetic knowledge, decoding skills, sound-symbol correspondences, and manipulating and building words.  

English:  Shurley Method: Students will work through this graduated series while learning grammar and writing through jingles and repetition. It also stresses study skills and organizational skills. 

Handwriting: Students will learn Zaner-Bloser cursive handwriting. Students are expected to maintain proper handwriting form on all assignments. Handwriting grades will come from both the Zaner-Bloser text and regular handwriting checks on various assignments.

Spelling: Spelling skills are taught and assessed in conjunction with the reading and phonics curriculum. Students are encouraged to practice spelling words on Spelling City.   I will always “TRY” to have the next weeks words available over the weekend. Religion:  We are using the Word of Life religion program.  

Social Studies:  Communities: Students will study the topics of past and present communities, basic government make-up, and citizenship. Students will also work on map reading and timeline skills. (taught by Mrs. Hagans)

Science:  Mystery Science Series in an interactive web based program.  (taught by Mrs. Beck)
