About Me

Mrs. Patterson

I am sure you would like to know a little about me since I will be spending a lot of time with your child, so here is a little bit about myself.

I began as a musician, playing and teaching the flute. After graduating college, and getting married, I decided to switch gears and become an elementary school teacher. After earning my credential from Cal State Fullerton, I began teaching 6th grade. I taught at Oxford Academy for 4 years. After that, I transferred to Krystal Elementary School, where I have been ever since. While at Krystal I taught 3rd grade for 4 years, a 5/6 combo for one year, I returned to teaching 6th grade for the 2014-2015 school year.

I have been married for 19 years to my high school sweetheart, Patrick Patterson. He is a local business owner. We have lived in the high desert for about 10 years. We have two sons. Jeffrey, the oldest, is 19 years old. He is busy running our print shop in Calimesa. My youngest son, Drew, is 16 years old. He is an 11th grader at Sultana High School. He is busy with band as the horn line captain, and vice president.

As a parent and educator, I understand what it takes for children to be successful students. I have high expectations for my students and encourage them to reach their full potential. I believe in positive rewards and focus on improvement in academics and behavior. I also feel it is important for students to like school and to have fun while they are learning. However, I believe that negative consequences are also required at times for poor behavior as well. Respect and responsibility are an important part of learning.

Communication is very important to me. I have many ways for parents and students to communicate with me, and I always make an effort to return messages as soon as possible. Email is my preferred method of communication. In addition, this website will be updated frequently with important information. For information on your student's progress in class, please use Infinite Campus at least once a month. I will only be sending home progress reports for students that are earning D's and F's. If you would like to meet with me in person, please email or call to set up an appointment time that will work within both of our busy schedules.

Thank you for giving me the opportunity to be your child's teacher. I look forward to a wonderful year.
