This year students will play an important role in how the classroom functions and is managed. Students will have jobs that require high levels of responsibility. They will earn paychecks, pay rent on their desks, earn bonuses, and pay fines when necessary.
There will be job postings with requirements and salaries in the classroom.
All students will be trained in every job during the first few weeks of school. During this time, they will be earning an "unemployment salary".
Students will apply for their desired jobs and be required to provide a letter of recommendation from anyone that is not their parent.
Jobs will be held for one calendar month, with the exception of December and January. Those two months will be counted as one, due to the long winter break.
Students will be expected to do the job effectively and efficiently or they may be fined. In the event of repeated fines, they may be reassigned or may be moved to "unemployment status".
Each month there will be up to five students on the Unemployment List, they will still receive a salary of $40 every week.
Each month, students will be required to pay rent on their desk space. They may save up and eventually purchase the deed to their desk space and will no longer be required to pay rent. Purchase amount is $3000
There will be opportunities to earn bonuses throughout the month.
Fines will need to be paid on our class banking day, usually Fridays.
Students will need to keep a banking log and are encouraged to have the majority of their money held in the classroom bank.
All of their banking items will be held in a special folder that they are responsible for.
When we get back into the classroom, this will be updated with classroom jobs.
