IUCN Red List of Threatened Species
Every year the International Union for Conservation of Nature and Natural Resources makes available a list of species and subspecies that are threatened with extinction. Their web site contains a comprehensive list of the conservation status of plants, mammals, invertebrates, fish and amphibians. Each one has a description of where it is found, why it is threatened, and photographs are included. Many tables allow you to view data in various ways. Photos in the gallery can be used for non-commercial purposes, such as school reports, if credit is given to the photographer.
