4. Additional Information and FAQs

(1) Failure to satisfy the academic requirements of the program or to complete the service requirement will result in forfeiture of the scholarship award, which will revert to a student loan with repayments pro-rated accordingly to reflect partial service completed.

(2) UHM FAQ: The following questions have been raised at the UHM site.

Q1: How long the scholarship may be?

A1: The maximum length is 3 years.

Q2: Can a student apply the scholarship if she/he is not a UHM student?

A2: Anyone can apply and be awarded the scholarship. But the student must be a UHM student in order to accept the scholarship, e.g., a current HCC or UHWO student can apply and later transfer to UHM to be supported with the scholarship. Currently, the scholarship can only be distributed to a student registered at UHM.

Q3: Is the scholarship limited to undergraduate study?

A3: the scholarship can be applied to both undergraduate and graduate study. For example, a senior can be supported with the scholarship for 1 year as a undergraduate and up to 2 years as a graduate. The current total is limited to 3 years.
