Hawai‘i Community College has an agreement with ProctorU to provide proctoring services using webcams and live proctors to monitor online exams and to use industry-accepted processes to authenticate that the named examinee is the individual taking an exam.
The use of ProctorU is OPTIONAL and should not be made mandatory. Should you choose to offer ProctorU as an option for your students, you should always inform students that they can still take proctored online tests free of charge at the UH Testing Centers. It is also important to provide detailed information about this option in your course syllabus, since there is a cost involved. See the Syllabus Statement page for a sample "blurb."
Payment of all proctoring fees will be the obligation of the individual examinee (student). Any charges applicable to the examinee must be paid with a credit or debit card. The examinee will be required to enter payment information into a secure page connected to a third-party card processor. The page is encrypted and ProctorU does not see or store the credit card data. Examinees will have to re-enter payment information each time new charges are incurred.

The following video details the process a test taker will go through on test day. Students may experience a slightly different pre-check process than the one shown in this video, but there are no major differences between the steps they need to take, just changes to the look and order of steps.
