TK has learned the letter names and sounds for all letters. We are studying consonant blends and trickier words. The tricky words we have learned, so far, are one, two, three, the, a, blue, yellow, look, I, and are. We will be learning the tricky word little, this week. We underline the tricky parts in these words to remind us that some letters do not follow the rules of English. We just learned that the letter s, at the end of words, sometimes makes the /s/ or /z/ sound. We have to be flexible when sounding out words with these endings.
TK has moved into Unit 6 of our Knowledge domain. Our Knowledge domain consists of science and social studies topics. This unit covers classic tales. We learned that a fable is a story from long ago that teaches a moral or a lesson. So far, we have learned that ‘little’ characters can do ‘great’ things, and there is ‘no place like home.’
In math, we are cruising through Unit 5. The unit goal is for students to compose and decompose numbers within 10.
6:00 PM concert details. Please have your child use the restroom before coming to school. At 5:45, drop off your child at the elementary front doors. Someone will be there to open the doors promptly. After you drop off your child, drive around to the high school and park. Walk into the high school, enter the gym, and take a seat. The concert will start at 6:00. If it is chilly or cold that day, take your child’s coat with you when you drive to the high school, as you will be picking up your child from either the high school music or band rooms.
