March 20
Friday, March 27 - No School due to Teacher Professional Development
Monday, March 30 through Friday, April 3 - No School due to Spring Break
TK finished studying consonant blends but will continue to review. We are now adding digraphs to our sound deck. We have learned the /ch/, /sh/, and /th/ sounds. We are using these sounds at the beginning and end of words. The tricky words we have learned, so far, are one, two, three, the, a, blue, yellow, look, I, are, and down. We underline the tricky parts in these words to remind us that some letters do not follow the rules of English.
TK has moved into Unit 7 of our Knowledge domain. This unit covers Important People in American History. We will learn about Martin Luther King Jr., Sally Ride, and Abraham Lincoln, among others.
In math, we have completed Unit 6. The unit goal is for students to develop fluency with numbers 11-20, focusing on counting, comparing, and representing these quantities. Unit 7 will teach us about recognizing flat versus solid shapes, building complex shapes from smaller ones, comparing weight and capacity, and applying counting/arithmetic skills in geometric contexts.
