Figure Eight Soft Velcro laced ankle braces (ASO Ankle Braces) are strongly recommended. Player Eligibility
All forms should be turned into the Athletic office before the start of preseason. (2016 Pre season start date - August 15, 2016)
If not, player is ineligible to practice until forms are turned in. Please check with Coach Carney, amycarney417@gmail.com if you are not sure. If a student is absent for any part of the school day, she is ineligible to play or practice that day unless absence is excused ahead of time with a Goldenrod.
Parent Take Home Policy (From Away Games)
All players are expected and encouraged to come home with the team on the bus. However, in the event that the parents need to take the player home, they must have a note signed by the Athletic Director, Mike Jackson, granting permission to do so. Any player going home with a parent, other than their own parent, must also have a note from Mike Jackson. Although every match dictates timing, we make every effort to be back to Hanover by 10 pm.
Injuries
If your player is injured, she must sit out of practice until she can be seen by Jeni Frechette, our Athletic Trainer. Once seen, the player may not actively participate in practice until cleared by her. If your player needs treatment (heat, icing or taping), the expectation is for the player to be at practice 20 to 30 minutes ahead of time to make sure she is taped, dressed and ready to play by the time practice begins. Out Athletic Director, Mike Jackson, who is also an athletic trainer, fills in when available. Every effort is made to accommodate all fall athletes so we thank you for your patience. Injured players are expected to attend practice to watch and learn. They are also expected to attend games unless excused by the coach.
Home Game Expectations
Varsity and JV players are required to go to the gym immediately after school on home game days to get the gym ready for the match. JV players must be back at school by 4:00, dressed and ready to play for a 5:00 pm start. After the JV match, JV players are expected to stay and watch the Varsity match unless excused by their coach ahead of time. Varsity players are expected to be back at school dressed and ready to play by the start of the JV match unless excused by the coach.
Missing Games or Practices
If a player has to miss a game or practice, she must let the coach know AHEAD OF TIME by email so the coach can make adjustments to her practice plans and game line-ups. Your consideration is greatly appreciated. The coaches do not want an ill player to attend practice or games until she is fully recovered. Please let the coach know by phone or email when a player is ill.
Parent/Player/Coach Communication
Our goal is a COACH/PLAYER relationship. If there are player concerns, the following chain of communication is strongly encouraged:
1. Player talks to coach
2. If unresolved, player needs to arrange a time to talk to the coach with a parent
3. If still unresolved, parent and player set up an appointment with Athletic Director Mike Jackson and coach.
Away Game Meals/Snacks (optional)
There are eight away games. Because we do not stop on the way home, we arrange to have dinner for the girls on the return bus trip; the cost of the meals is yet to be determined. If there are financial concerns, scholarship funds are available -- please talk with Coach Carney or one of our parent coordinators.
Participating is optional, but if your player does not want to participate, please provide a post-game snack/dinner for your daughter. Please make sure all players pack a pre-game snack and drink for the bus ride to the game.
Please make checks payable to Hanover High School Volleyball
