Requirements
From the VDOE June 26, 2015 Superintendent's Memo: "On or after July 1, 2015, license holders will not be required to take a college or university course to renew a Board of Education license. License holders will need to complete 180 professional development points and all other renewal requirements set forth in regulation and statute. The process to change the Licensure Regulations for School Personnel to conform to the statute has commenced. The Licensure Renewal Manual also will be revised to reflect this change."
Tuition & Assessment Reimbursement
Partial tuition reimbursement is available to provisionally licensed teachers needing coursework to fulfill the requirements to obtain a full, renewable license. Reimbursement for assessments (Praxis II, VCLA, RVE) needed to obtain a full, renewable license is also available. Reimbursement guidelines and request form can be found here:

Receiving Points
To have points added to your training record send an official (sealed) transcript to Carlise Hopson, Human Resources.
From the VDOE Licensure Renewal Manual: "Acceptable coursework offers content that provides new information and is offered by a regionally accredited two-year or four-year college or university. Courses must be taken for credit, and the license holder must earn a passing grade or a "pass" in courses taken on a "pass" or "fail" basis. Maximum number of points : 180. Point value assignment: One semester hour = 30 points; one quarter hour = 20 points." Therefore, a three credit hour course = 90 points.
