Staff: Mr Sudnick & Mrs. Banach
Rules for Physical Education:
-Sports teams will be given big lockers first. They will then be handed out in descending order starting with Seniors, then Juniors, and so on.
-Students have five minutes (on a normal day) to come in, change and report to the gymnasium for warm-up.
-Warm-up and stretching will be required most days. If warm-up and/or stretching is unsatisfactory than it will be repeated until approved by staff.
-Students should be dressed appropriately for class. For example: Shorts, t-shirts, sweatpants, warm-up pants etc. No undergarments should be visible and dress should be of appropriate length. Also remember to dress appropriate for weather and/or unit. Staff will do their best to make sure you are aware ahead of time but try and bring outside clothes to always leave in your locker.
-Sneakers are required for class. No boots, heels, sandals etc.
-No cleats for physical education class. Any cleats for after school events should be put on OUTSIDE, and taken off OUTSIDE, the building.
-NEVER go into the equipment room without staff’s permission. Staff will ask students if they need assistance getting equipment.
-Do not touch any equipment until given instruction by staff.
-No food or drink in the gymnasium or locker room! Even water bottles, we do not want spills or trash in the gymnasium or locker room.
-That includes gum and candy, Sudnick HATES gum! (and it’s a safety issue….)
-Students cannot leave the gymnasium without the permission of staff (the only exception is in the case of emergency, for example, if a student is going to be sick).
-If a student needs to use the bathroom they must ask staff. The students should use the restroom before coming to class, as not to waste time. If using the restroom during class becomes an issue the ONLY time to use the restroom, save emergencies, will be before or after class.
-Student will respect his/herself, other students, the staff, and the equipment used in class and in the locker room. If a lack of respect is shown in the gymnasium or the locker room the student or students will have consequences depending on the severity of the infraction. NO VULGARITIES! (swears…..) Such consequences can be, but will not be limited to, written assignments, detention, suspension etc.
-No climbing or sitting on bleachers while they are in a closed position.
-Participating in class is not an option! Your grade will be judged by your:
A. Classroom Participation/Effort
B. Behavior 75%
C. Proper Attire (must be appropriate)
D. Assessment (tests, quizzes, skill assessment, questions/discussions, projects): 25%
-Finals and Mid-terms will have increased weight with grading.
-Make-up work must be worked out with staff by student.
-At the end of the class you may not leave (unless otherwise designated by the teacher) until all equipment is put away.
-There will be about five minutes (again, on a normal day) to change and be ready to go on to the next class. Do NOT leave the locker room or the gymnasium until dismissed by staff or bell.
-Good athletes should be helping other students in class, NOT putting others down or bullying. Bullying will NOT be tolerated by any means.
-No cell phones, I pods (unless okayed for certain classes), in school. If you are caught with your cell phone or I pod it will be taken by staff and given to the front office.
-If a student is excused, due to an injury or illness, from class they must have a note from the school nurse or a doctor excusing them. If the note does not have a return date to class, the student will be required to bring one to staff in order to reintegrate into the class.
-Students will not be allowed to bring work from other classes into the gymnasium in order to complete assignments. Some circumstances require students to miss physical education for other activities or due to injury. These will be handled in a case by case basis by the physical education department, student(s) involved, and any other staff involved.
-Have FUN! The teachers expect students to put in their best effort, but also want the students to enjoy the class. The more one puts into a class, the more one will get out of it.
-The physical education staff reserves the right to modify these rules when and where applicable. If you have any questions please fell free to discuss them with the physical education staff.
