This is a two-semester course in basic biology for college preparatory students in grades 10 - 12. This laboratory-oriented course will cover concepts in the scientific method, cellular biology, molecular biology, genetics, human biology, evolution, and ecology. This course will meet the Life Science graduation requirement, as well as the UC “d” science and “g” elective requirements.

R277 Medical Biology 2C credits: 5

This is a two-semester course in basic biology with medical applications for college preparatory students in grades 9- 12. This laboratory-oriented course will cover the same concepts as college preparatory biology as described above, but will emphasize its relevance for the medical and biotechnological sciences. Students also have the opportunity for field trips and guest speakers from the health science field. This course will meet the Life Science graduation requirement, as well as the UC “d” science and “g” elective requirements. Prerequisite: None

Honors Biology

R201 Biology 1H credits: 5

R202 Biology 2H credits: 5

This is a two-semester course in biology that is open to gifted college preparatory students who have demonstrated an interest and ability in science. The course will differ from the college preparatory R191 and R192 courses in its deeper concept coverage, greater use of text content, and its greater emphasis on chemistry and physics. This course will meet the Life Science graduation requirement, as well as the UC “d” science and “g” elective requirements.
