Locating and Logging into Google Apps on the web:
To access your GTS e-mail go to: http://mail.gts.edu
If you are faculty or staff, IT staff will contact you with information on how to login to your account.
Students your e-mail address is the first initial of your first name followed by your last name (for hyphenated last names, remove the hyphen) and then add @gts.edu. Example: If your name is Clement Moore, your e-mail address is cmoore@gts.edu.
Your new password is GTS (all upper-case) plus your date of birth. Example: If your birthday is Jan. 3, 1985, your password will be GTS*1385 or if your birthday is Dec. 24, 1956, your password will be GTS*122456. (You can change your password anytime after you login to your account for the first time).
Different options for working with Google Apps:
Google Apps is user-friendly and can be accessed from any internet-connected computer and there are several options for working with Google Apps from your desktop and smartphone. IT staff will take care of setting up staff and faculty campus workstations, but if you would like to add Google Apps to your home computers and smart phones, here are some options available to you:
Browsers and Google Apps
Internet Explorer can be used with Google Apps, but you'll notice that doing so spawns a lot of browser windows. A more streamlined approach is to use Google Chrome or Safari (MAC). Firefox also handles Google Apps well and had plug-ins for Gmail that can be used to enhance the Mail.
Google Apps and the Google Desktop Tool
An interesting dock for your personal computer with options to add cool widgets and mail, calendar items are “at hand” Can be used by all members of the community: students, faculty and staff. New widgets are being added all the time.
Google Mobile Apps (Blackberry, smartphones)
To get your Google Apps mail on your smartphone, type this URL into your phone's browser: m.google.com. Note in the set-up you need to add gts.edu as the domain.
Google Apps on the iPhone or iPad.

Google Apps for Android phones
To configure the 'Email' app on an Android device for access to Google Apps email (we use Google Apps at GTS/Tutu Ctr), just follow the steps below:
STEP 1: Enable IMAP in your e-mail account settings.
Go to http://mail.gts.edu
and login with your login and password.
In upper-right of screen, select "Forwarding and POP/IMAP" Select Enable IMAP and click "Save Changes.
STEP 1: Set-up Google Apps e-mail on your Android phone
On your phone, press < Home >, then open the Email application. On the 'Your accounts' page, select Next to get started with setup. Enter your full Google Apps email address (ex. myname@gts.edu) and password, then select Next. Select IMAP account and then select Next.
On the "Incoming server settings" page, some fields may be pre-populated. Make sure to change the following:
For "Username," enter your full Google Apps email address (ex. myname@gts.edu)
For "IMAP server," enter "imap.gmail.com"
For "Port," enter "993"
For "Security type," select "SSL (always)''
Select Next.
On the "Outgoing server settings" page, some fields may be pre-populated. Make sure to change the following:
For "SMTP server" enter "smtp.gmail.com"
For "Port," enter "465"
For "Security type," select "SSL (always)''
Select Next
and continue through the setup options.
You can verify your settings from the Inbox view by tapping < Menu > > Account settings.
