Welcome to Google Apps for GTS
The GTS e-mail system
Google offers "Google Apps for Education" -- a no-cost email service to educational institutions in which several of our sister seminaries participate. Under Google Apps for Education (as it is known), we use gts.edu email addresses. Google mail includes a calendar and contact function and allows you to share and see other calendars. It also has chat and robust spam filtering.
Google Apps for Education offers the following services:
Gmail – provides over 25 gigabytes of email storage and effective spam filtering;
Google Calendar - allows easy coordination of work or class schedules, meetings and events online;
Google Chat - supports free instant messaging;
Google Meet - allows user to schedule instant meetings using Zoom .
Google Docs - allows users to create and collaborate on documents and spreadsheets in real-time.
Google Drive – allows users to store documents, photos, ...., etc. and access from anywhere with GTS email account
Google Apps works in the “Cloud”—or all work is done on the internet. This means that Google is easily accessible, whether on campus or on the road, all you will need is one web address. Best of all, this will free GTS from having to invest in email servers and spam filtering hardware which will enable the IT department to focus their time and resources on other network and IT needs.
This website created and maintained by the IT department contains a collection of materials to help you get started with Google Apps: Here you will find information for setting up Google Apps the way you like it--whether this is simply how to get to Google Apps on the web, or you want to tweak your computer desktop or add Google Apps to your smartphone. Here as well, is a page with a whole bunch of short training videos that will teach you how to use the different apps in Google Apps.
