Physical activity is critical to the development and maintenance of good health. The goal of physical education is to develop physically educated individuals who have the knowledge, skills, and confidence to enjoy a lifetime of healthful physical activity.
1. The learner will be able to demonstrate competency in motor skills and movement
patterns needed to perform a variety of physical activities.
2. The learner will be able to demonstrate an understanding of movement concepts,
principles, strategies, and tactics as they apply to the learning and performance of
physical activities.
3. The learner will be able to participate regularly in physical activity.
4. The learner will be able to achieve and maintain a health-enhancing level of physical
fitness.
5. The learner will be able to exhibit responsible personal and social behavior that
respects self and others in physical activity settings.
6. The learner will be able to value physical activity for health, enjoyment, challenge,
self-expression, and/or social interaction.
The goals for physical education class are:
· To become skilled movers.
· To work cooperatively and use good sportsmanship skills.
· To apply creative and productive thinking skills. · To develop a working vocabulary of health and sports related terminology.
