My name is Alyssa Bloomquist, and 2024-2025 school year is my 10th year at Stone Academy!
SLP = Speech-Language Pathologist
About my background: I grew up in Greenville and attended Mauldin High school. I then moved away to go to Clemson University for my undergraduate degrees, where I earned dual degrees in Spanish and Psychology. While at Clemson, I ran for the Cross Country and Track teams. I loved this experience because I got to travel around the country with my closest friends and represent the school I love! After graduation, I attended the University of South Carolina for my Master of Speech Pathology (MSP) degree. I stayed in Columbia for a year after graduation while my husband completed a residency in general dentistry. I worked at a nursing home doing speech therapy with patients who have had strokes, brain injuries, swallowing difficulties, and other health complications. I quickly realized that my passion was working with kids, so when we moved back to Greenville, I started working here at Stone and have loved every minute since then! I absolutely love this school and our community, and am very happy here. I just completed my 9th school year, and am excited for years 10 and beyond!
I am a member of the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA). Through ASHA, I hold my national Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC), and I also hold a state license to practice speech pathology through SC LLR. Each year, I attend continuing education courses to learn the most recent practices and research in my field!
For fun, I love to run (anything from a 5k to a Marathon), paint (watercolors and oils), craft, read, and hang out with my family. I have a husband, daughter (6 years old), son (4 years old) and a cat...you may have heard me talk about them!
