Responsive Services includes counseling or referral activities to meet the immediate needs and concerns of students. The purpose of the responsive services component is to intervene on behalf of those students whose immediate personal circumstances, concerns, or problems interfere with their healthy personal, social, educational, and career development. Responsive services includes personal counseling; crisis counseling; agency referral; consultation with parents, teachers, and other professionals; support groups; and problem solving.
The Responsive Services component of the Graham ISD Comprehensive Developmental Guidance Program provides direction for responding to needs within the school community; including individual student situations as well as school, community, state, and/or national crises/emergencies that affect students’ lives. The counselor may work with students individually, in small groups, or in large groups. It may also be recommended for an individual student to receive services outside of the school setting. The Graham ISD Comprehensive Developmental Guidance Program includes resources to support the implementation of the Responsive Services component.
