Limit Contact Communication
Purpose:
This document will provide instructions on how to limit contact communication on an iPhone & iPad through the Screen Time feature from Apple.
Note: This document will not provide instructions on setting up Screen Time for the first time. Instructions will be from the student's iPad perspective.
Requirements:
The latest version of iOS
Using the Screen Time feature
Within Screen Time: using a passcode only the parents know and can't be guessed by the student
Create a vetted list of contacts
Limit Contacts & Not Allow Changes to Contacts
Using a vetted list of contacts, navigate to your student's contacts on the iPad
2. Press the icon, Contacts. This is typically located on the home page. You may have to search for it.
2. Delete contacts that are not on your vetted list
3. Open Screen Time (Settings>Screen Time)
a. Within Screen Time press on Content & Privacy Restrictions
a. Turn on Content & Privacy Restrictions by pressing the toggle button, so, you see green.
b. Press on Contacts (the default is set to, Allow)
c. Change by pressing, Don't Allow Changes
a. To complete this change press < Content & Privacy Restrictions
b. Navigate to the main page of Screen Time by pressing < Screen Time
Set Who Can Communicate with Your Student
Navigate to Screen Time if you are not already there (Setting>Screen Time)
Press Communication Limits
a. Press During Screen Time
a. Press Contact Only
b. To complete the change press < Communication Limits
b. Press During Downtime
a. Press Specific Contacts, this can be used for only emergency contacts or trusted contacts
b. or, Press Contacts Only
c. To complete the change press < Communication Limits
