When you first login through Family Access, the home screen shows "Current Grades" and any new "Notifications." You may choose your student (if you have multiple students attending the school) with the drop down window just below the "Current Grades" heading. In the top right hand corner is three dash marks, this is the menu button.
From the main menu, you will see four options up top. In order from left to right the buttons are: "Favorites," "Recent," "Family Access," and "Personal Account Settings." You may choose your student (if you have more than one attending) here below the navigation bar. Below this option is the ability to choose from multiple services including: "Attendance," "Discipline," "Food Service," "Gradebook," "Schedule," "Student Information," and "Report Cards."
From the "Attendance" screen you can see any type of absences broken down into two separate tabs. The first one is "2015-16 Details." This option explains the date of absence, type of absence, period the student was gone for, and what class it was.
The second tab is "2015-16 Totals." This tab breaks down by "Year to Date," explaining how many total Excused, Unexcused, Tardy, and Other absences the student has, then goes into the same categories by Term.
The next option in the Family Access menu is Discipline.
This option describes what date the offense happened on (or was posted to Skyward), what the offense was, and where it happened. Actions explains any further details that might be associated to the situation. Note: With the drop down menu below each offense, it will tell who the officer was that issued the offense, and whether a parent was notified or not. By default Gonzaga Preparatory High School sets the notification option to "No."
Next, you may view your student's "Food Service."
There is three tabs that "Food Service" shows. The first is overall Summary. It gives the Prior year's balance (if there is any, otherwise it will say $0.00). Then +YTD (Year-To-Date) Payment, +YTD Incentive, -YTD Purchases, and finally current balance.
The second tab is "Payments." This shows the date of the payment, the amount of the payment, who paid the amount, the type of payment (check, card, cash, etc.), and the status of the payment. Note: if a payment is made with a check, it will also show a Check #.
The final tab for Food Service shows purchases made. The options shown here is the date of the payment and total cost. The drop down window for each payment may show further details on what was purchased.
The next option available to you as a family member is the "Gradebook," which then further breaks down into two categories: "Class Grades" and "Assignments."
Class Grades breaks down when you first log-in.
The second option, "Assignments," breaks things down further into "Current," "Past," and "Missing" assignments.
For "Current" assignments, it shows the due date, Class, Category of assignment, and grade. In most situations the assignments here, under score, will show * of (amount of points) since it is assignments that might not be due or graded yet.
Past assignments show the same information, but these will also have a Grade.
The final tab, "Missing," shows date, class, category, score, and grade. It will also have -- for score, an *, or 0 out of (max points), since assignments that have not been turned in yet will be shown here.
With Family Access, you are able to view your student's schedule, which is broken by day or by term. If it is during school hours, Skyward will show you where your student is located, according to their schedule, when you click on the "Schedule" menu option. After school hours it will show "Done with Classes for the Day," as shown in the image below. When it is broken down By Day, you can see the Class, Period, Teacher, Days, and what room the class is located in.
Breaking down By Term will show you the whole year's worth of their schedule.
The next option in the Main Menu is "Student Information." This is broken down into three tabs: Student, Family, and Emergency Contacts.
The Student tab will show an image of your student, the school they attend, what phone number to call, home address, Gender, Age, Birthday, Language, Graduation Year, any other names associated with your student, and if there has been any Community Service hours. It then breaks down into the school's information including the school's Phone Number, Principal, Grade, School Status, who your student's advisor is, and Locker number.
The second tab is "Family." This will list mother, father, brother, sister, mailing address, home address (if the two are different), primary phone numbers, home language, who the legal Guardians are, along with Cell Phone numbers, work phone, home email, employer, and if the Guardian is Custodial.
The third tab is Emergency Contacts. This tab contains the name of the Emergency Contact, the relationship, and the primary phone number.
The final option available from the Main Menu is "Report Cards." Report cards are broken into two tabs. The first tab is "Attachments." This will state a description of the report card, date it was created on, and give you the option to print the report card.
The final tab is "Highlights." If there was any highlights from the report cards that were noted, it will be mentioned here.
This concludes the available features associated with Family Access, and the ability you have to follow your student's progress as they learn and develop at Gonzaga Preparatory High School.
