Northside Rising has been providing programs that contribute to having a more just, hopeful and healthy community and we are excited to share our new program --   Open Space Mobile Art Center!

Open Space Mobile Art Center is offering free, weekly drop-in arts programming to Florence, Sydney Mines, and North Sydney until June 2023 to help address the social isolation in the Northside that increased during the pandemic by providing a welcoming place to gather, make art, share a meal and stories.

Specifically, participants will have access to:

-       Art materials

-       Musical instruments

-       Hot Meals

-       PLUS: creative arts therapists and facilitators to provide light guidance and support when needed

This February, you can find the Open Space Mobile Art Center at the following locations near you:

Mondays, 4-6pm at the Florence Legion (starts Feb 6)

Wednesdays 4-6pm at the North Sydney Food Bank (starts Feb 1)

Fridays, 4-6pm at the Sydney Mines Heritage Museum (starts Feb 10)

Everyone is welcome. No experience necessary.

Got questions, please reach out at openspace@northsiderising.ca

After much consultation and consideration:

1. Wednesday's evening concert will take place Friday, December 16th at 5PM.  Doors open at 4:30pm. The same tickets that were to be used for this evening's concert will be used that evening. Our music teacher works at two sites and has another concert Monday afternoon and evening.

2.  Wednesday's afternoon concert will take place  on Friday, December 16th at 12:45 the same way it would have taken place today. Doors open at 12:35pm. Tickets that were to be used for this afternoon will be used on Friday.

3. Tomorrow's two concerts for our younger students (Thursday, December 15th), will take place as scheduled if the power is back on at Ferrisview.

4. If school is closed tomorrow, we will further advise in this space.

December 13 - All schools and worksites are closed for today

All schools and worksites for the Cape Breton-Victoria Regional Centre for Education are closed today (Dec. 13).
