Greeting

The purpose of the Greeting is for students to lea skills of formal, friendly and fun formats for social encounters. As well everyone relates to everyone in the advisory community.

As soon as the group has formed a circle everyone is greeted by name by someone. Although format possibilities may vary, the important thing is that that it is done in a friendly, non-exclusive tone.

Must Do Greeting Basics

- Greeting is the first thing that happens in the meeting and it sets a positive tone.

- Everyone is included and everyone’s name is said.

- Everyone is greeted only once.

- Greetings are friendly and respectful; eyes make contact.

- Time frame is two to five minutes.


Secret Handshake

Once the advisory group has become established, and respectful greeting practices are in place, students may enjoy creating a secret handshake to identify their group and facilitate greeting each other.
