The Brookland Elementary School Advisory Council meets regularly to discuss issues that are important for the Brookland School Community. Contact the school if you would like to participate in the advisory council.

Inaugural Meeting of the 2025-2026 School Year:Wednesday, October 8 at 6 pm. We will meet at Brookland Elementary. Please use the royal Avenue entrance if you attend.

1. Bianca Petrie will be take minutes for this meeting
2. Reviewed minutes – accepted
3. Boundary Changes – Discussed the new boundary changes that affect Brookland
and Cusac. There is potential for 25 new students to enroll at Brookland currently
there are 3.
4. New Code of conduct-
a. At Tuesdays Staff meeting staff reviewed the new code of conduct and a
teacher commented on the addition of unacceptable behaviour
b. Page 8 SAC – John will bring this to Susan AuCoin’s attention for clarity
5. Account Balance - $3011.51 SAC is committing to end of year field trips
6. Home and School –
a. Explained School supplies initiative for the 2025-2026 school year with a
student pay of $25 and all supplies would be supplied to all classroom
teachers
b. Update on end of year Bye Bye BBQ
c. Discussed grade 5 end of year celebration – decided to split the gym. Half for
party/dance and half for certificate ceremony with parents being invited
7. Staffing – Second list of staff updates for the 2025-2026v school year will be out
tomorrow
8. Codes – currently the school is codes for student protection and privacy that is such
as Code “colour student’s name” discussion will be had with teachers to explain
this a little further as some students are quite nervous and confused about lock
downs and hold and secures when they are explain to their parents at the end of the
day

Minutes from the May 21st meeting were reviewed and approved.
SAC agreed to donate $1000 to the Home and School to assist with costs.
SAC bylaws were reviewed, along with the SAC “to do” list.
The next meeting was scheduled for February 11th, 2026.
The meeting was adjourned at 7:20pm.

Budget: 4229.04 remaining
SSP: Classrooms are continuing to work on:
A. Math - Students will strengthen their mental math ability and recall rate through Math “Daily 10” lessons
B. Literacy - Strengthen students quality of retelling skills by focusing on details and sequencing- Comprehension Pillar
C. Well Being - Students will gain an understanding of language used in the school wide matrix. This language will include the following traits: responsibility, ownership, respect, and attitude
Home and School Report:
School supply program will continue. Price for 26-27 supplies will be 50.00. Feedback from parents and teachers has been positive.
Wreath fundraiser raised 1000.00
Sticker club continues to be successful and is a good fundraiser
Gift Card tree raised 2400.00 for Christmas charity
Pizza coupons from Joanie’s Pizza will be sold for 15.00 School will get 5.00 revenue per pizza. Top selling class will receive a pizza party
A Winter fun week is planned for March 9-12. Grade primary and one will go to the wildlife park, Grades two and three will go skating, and grades four and fives will go skiing. We will have theme days and a movie afternoon!
April will see a cookie day
In May we will have our annual art show
In June we will have a graduate celebration and the Bye Bye BarBQ
New Business:
Medical students will deliver a wellness presentation to grade four students in April
Carmie Zahara, Equity consultant, will present to Grade four and five classes on topics related to human rights, specifically gender issues.
