What is Digital Literacy?
Simple Answer: Teaching students to use the computer and Internet correctly.
Complex Answer: Teaching students to be able to locate, evaluate, utilize, create, and share
content using information technologies and the Internet.
Digital Literacy students will be able to do the following:
-demonstrate proper keyboarding skills
-understand computer vocabulary, different hardware devices, mouse basics
-utilize word processing effectively to organize, write and edit pieces
-create and format spreadsheets and graphs
-collect and present data visually
-read digital text deeply
-manage publishing software tools
-demonstrate highlight, copy and dragging skills
-draw conclusions from multiple resources and information
-analyse and evaluate sources and information
-use technology to test theories
-access and create videos, podcats, webspages, blogs, charts, presentations, etc.
-brainstorm using technology
-communicate and collaborate through technology
-demonstrate digital citizenship
-use a variety of digital tolls (Chromebook, iPad, iPod, etc.)
-utilize appropriate online resources
-post appropriate information about themselves and others online
-and so much more....
