Participation in the Operation Snowball club is open to any GBN student and staff regardless of race, creed, age, sex, gender, national origin, or disability.
Students attending the Operation Snowball retreat should be in good standing at GBN. Eligibility includes, but is not limited to, the following expectations:
All grades must be a "C" average or higher
No outstanding fines
All detentions and suspensions must be served prior to the retreat
No disciplinary code violations outstanding
Must not be in jeopardy of being withdrawn from any classes due to attendance concerns
Demonstrate age-appropriate maturity and a level of emotional well-being appropriate for participation in retreat activities
In a case where an applicant has not consistently met the above criteria, the student may be evaluated by GBN staff to determine eligibility for attending the retreat. The GBN sponsors maintain the right to deem a student ineligible based upon this criteria at their discretion.
Retreat participants must agree to follow all Operation Snowball and camp rules. They must be willing to follow the schedule of activities, to attend all of the sessions, and to participate in the retreat for its duration.
Retreat participants should NOT be in need of emotional or substance abuse treatment. Operation Snowball is a prevention program. It is designed to keep healthy kids healthy and does NOT provide therapy or counseling.
Participation in this retreat is limited to 90 applicants. If over 90 students submit applications, students will be accepted utilizing a lottery system with emphasis on taking an equal number of boys and girls from each grade level. Priority may be given to students who have not attended Operation Snowball previously at GBN.
An application is considered complete when:
Students submit the online application
All required forms are signed and submitted to the bookstore (medication forms are to be submitted to the Nurses office, if applicable)
Payment is submitted to the bookstore
All decisions made by the GBN sponsors regarding the acceptance of applicants are final.
