Reading Teachers
Reading Teachers are school-based literacy specialists who focus on individual student needs. Reading Teachers provide ongoing assessment, expert diagnosis, and intervention for students' identified needs both inside and outside of the classroom.
Reading Teachers...
Instruct children 1:1 and in small groups
Assess and diagnose literacy needs and recommend plans of action, including identification of students for reading intervention
Monitor progress and provide ongoing evaluation of all students being serviced
Collaborate with all staff to meet the literacy needs of all students
Support the implementation of Glastonbury’s Balanced Literacy Program
In addition, they train and support paras, tutors, and interns, provide professional development for other teachers, support the classroom assessment process and the research, development and implementation of school-based and district-wide literacy initiatives.
