We follow the concepts from unit 6B with a focus on Lessons 6.7 and 6.8. However, we use do a series of activites to break the concepts down further than what the book did. We use Geogebra frequently to explore the conic sections with a goal of understanding to the point where Geogebra is no longer needed. "Geogebra Classic" can be accessed directly from the Geogbra website so the Geogebra Drive App is not needed.
6.7 Activities:
6.07A Parabolas Notes and Homework
6.07A Parabolas (Geogebra Template).ggb - You may need to "allow popups" if Geogebra does not work. It works best to download the Geogebra file and then open the file while you are in the web version of Geogebra Classics.
6.07B Ellipses Notes and Homework
6.07B Ellipse (Geogebra Template).ggb
6.07C Hyperbolas Notes and Homework
6.07C Hyperbolas (Geogebra Template).ggb
6.07 Review: Conics at the Origin
6.8 Activities:
6.08B Conics Anywhere Graphing Packet Homework
6.08C Conics Anywhere - Writing Equations Homework
6.08D Conics Anywhere Homework - I did not post notes or videos for this lesson since it combines concepts from the previous 3 lessons.
6.7 Lessons: The 6.7 summary videos review the main ideas from the activity. The videos were designed to be watched after the completion of the activity to help clear up any misunderstandings.
6.07 Lessons: Geogebra Explorations - All three activities for Lesson 6.07 are explorations done with the aid of a Geogebra template. The slides show how to start all three explorations.
6.8 Lessons:
6.08A Writing Conic Equations in Standard Form
6.08C Writing Equations of Conics Anywhere
Note: The Geogebra Templates could be used to check most of the answers to the 6.7 and 6.8 worksheets.
