Precalculus
I use the Algebra and Trigonometry by Jay Abramson. It is an open source textbook, and its digital version is free of charge. Purchasing a hard copy is not required for the course.
In 2023 Fall I will be teaching one online section and one face-to-face section of Precalculus. The Folio intro will be open on Aug 11, 2023.
Requirements
There will be four sessions, and the final exam.
10% of a session grade is from Attendance Work, 20% of a session grade is from Homework, and 70% is from Session Tests.
50 % of a course grade is from session grades, and 50% is from the final exam.
Only for online courses: proctoring fees for five exams (Total of $100.00).
Only for online courses: access to scanner or smart phones.
Good work ethic and study habit are required throughout the semester.
Georgia Southern Credit Hour Policy: For each 50 min lecture, a minimum of two hours of out of class work is required.
Homework
Homework is assigned and graded using the online system MyOpenMath.
Homework will be assigned after each class meeting.
Tests
Good performance skill is examined in tests.
It is examined whether students properly prepared for tests.
It is examined whether students are able to properly write down correct mathematical thought processes using correct notation and English words.
For both online courses and face-to-face courses, all major tests are paper-based.
Lectures
Selections of past lectures are found here.
For online courses, lessons are delivered in the form of video, and just as in the face-to-face courses you are expected to watch the video and participate in the activities for 75 minutes for each lesson, and do homework problems for additional hours.
