I'm Mr. Hanson, and I am very excited to be starting my third year teaching at Brookwood!
Second grade is such an awesome year - especially at Brookwood, where our second graders are the role models for all the other younger students in the school. Students are also becoming more independent as learners, and they are learning all kinds of new things! My goal for this school year is to help my students learn about themselves, help them to develop a positive mindset, and help to foster their passion for learning!
It's going to be an awesome second grade year, and I'm excited to be a part of your child's educational journey at Brookwood!
About Me
Last year was my second year teaching at Brookwood. I am transitioning from teaching third grade, and am excited to begin working with our second grade friends at BES. Before teaching in Genoa City, I taught in Cambellsport, Wisconsin. This will be my fourth year teaching in the classroom, although I have experience as a special education aide, reading aide, and interventionist.
My wife, Mrs. Hanson, is a first grade teacher here at Brookwood, so our family is very connected to the Brookwood community. We love being a part of this wonderful school, and we're so excited for another great year!
Mrs. Hanson and I live in Elkhorn, where we bought our first home two years ago. We both grew up in the Waukesha area, but now call Walworth County our home.
This summer was an exciting one for me, as Mrs. Hanson and I enjoyed our first summer as parents. Our daughter, Evelyn, turned 1 this past August. We spent the summer chasing her around, as she learned to walk this summer.
Outside of the school day, I enjoy spending time with family, watching Wisconsin sports (Go Packers!), fishing, biking, and playing with my dog, Sawyer.
Background & Education
I was born and raised in Waukesha, Wisconsin and attended school in the District of Waukesha. My mother was also a teacher in Waukesha, so I like to think that teaching is in my blood.
Prior to obtaining my bachelor's degree, I worked in the education field as a math interventionist and special education aide for several years.
I graduated from Carroll University in 2016 with a bachelor's degree in Elementary Education and a minor in social studies.
