What is a comprehensive school counseling program?
A comprehensive school counseling program is an integral part of the primary educational mission of our school district and is part of students' daily educational environment. Our school counseling program supports, facilitates, and encourages classroom instruction and student achievement. It is proactive and preventative in nature, and assists students in developing life-long learning skills.
Our comprehensive school counseling program is based on the American School Counselor Association's national model, which employs strategies to enhance academic, career, and personal/social development for all students. This is accomplished through classroom guidance, small group counseling, individual student planning/counseling, and collaboration with other stakeholders such as parents, teachers, administrators, and community members.
